What is pelvic floor physical therapy?

Pelvic floor therapy is specialized, conservative care for all the muscles, fascia, and nerves supporting your pelvic and abdominal organs. A session is a full hour, one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and may include manual therapy, biofeedback, breathwork, targeted exercise, and education — so you understand your body and leave with a clear plan.

Core Service

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

The heart of our practice. Specialized, judgment-free treatment for the muscles, nerves, and fascia that support your pelvic and abdominal organs — using manual therapy, biofeedback, breathwork, and targeted exercise tailored to your body and goals. For every body, every life stage.

What it helps with:

  • Urinary leaks & incontinence (stress and urge)
  • Pelvic pain, pain with intimacy, and tension
  • Prolapse, pressure, and a feeling of heaviness
  • Postpartum recovery and core rehabilitation
  • Constipation and GI-related symptoms
  • Pre-op and post-op pelvic health care for any pelvic or abdominal surgeries

Prenatal Physical Therapy

Pregnancy changes how your body moves, carries weight, and feels day to day. As a perinatal-trained Doctor of Physical Therapy, Dr. Macchi helps you stay comfortable and strong through every trimester — easing aches and pains and thoughtfully preparing your body for birth and the recovery that follows.

What it helps with:

  • Low back, hip, and pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy
  • Staying active and mobile as your body changes
  • Breath, core, and pelvic floor prep for birth
  • Confidence going into labor and recovery

Postpartum Recovery

Birth is a major event for your body, and recovery deserves a real plan. We help you rehabilitate your whole body and help reconnect your breath, core, and pelvic floor so you can move, lift, and live without pain or pressure. Whether you delivered weeks or years ago, it's never too late to recover well.

What it helps with:

  • Diastasis recti and abdominal separation
  • Postural stability and a strong, supported foundation
  • A safe, confident return to exercise and running
  • Cesarean recovery and scar-related concerns

Orthopedic Physical Therapy

Aches and injuries rarely live in just one place. We treat back, hip, knee, and core pain with a whole-body lens — because the pelvic floor never works alone, and the body is deeply connected. As one patient put it, "It's crazy how the body is connected — the work she does really helped my overall health."

What it helps with:

  • Low back and SI joint pain
  • Hip, knee, and lower-body aches
  • Core weakness and instability
  • Returning to the movement and sports you love

Yoga & Yoga-Informed Therapy

Dr. Macchi is a certified yoga and perinatal yoga instructor — and that lens shapes everything she does. We offer private and small-group yoga across Hatha, Vinyasa, Power, Prenatal, and Postpartum styles, plus yoga-informed therapy that blends breath, mobility, and strength into your physical therapy plan.

What it helps with:

  • Private & group yoga (Hatha, Vinyasa, Power)
  • Prenatal & postpartum yoga, perinatal-trained
  • Breathwork, mobility, and mind-body connection
  • Complementing and extending your PT progress

Our Philosophy

The pelvic floor never works alone

Your pelvic floor is part of a system — connected to your breath, your core, your hips, and how you move through the world. That's why we don't treat symptoms in isolation. Whether you arrive for incontinence, postpartum recovery, or a stubborn back, we look at the whole picture and build a plan that helps the whole you. One body. One connected, doctor-led plan.

How It Works

A clear path, from first visit to graduation

No guesswork, no rushed appointments. Here's how care unfolds, every step explained and nothing without your consent.

01

Listen & Assess

We start with your story and goals, then a thorough, comprehensive evaluation to understand what your body needs.

02

A Personalized Plan

You'll leave your first visit with a clear plan — hands-on treatment, movement, breathwork, and a simple home routine.

03

Restore & Graduate

We work together until you're back to the life you love. Many patients "graduate" from care in a matter of weeks.

Insurance & Investment

Out-of-network, on purpose

Being an out-of-network practice means a full hour of focused, doctor-led care every visit — never rushed, never double-booked. We make reimbursement simple, and we'll tell you exactly what to ask your insurer.

  • ✓ We provide a detailed Superbill to submit to your insurer
  • ✓ Many patients are reimbursed 50–80% once their out-of-network deductible is met
  • ✓ HSA & FSA accepted
  • ✓ No referral needed to start in California
